Travelogue

  • I finally dare to step on the floor barefoot around the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center

I have been attending major exhibitions in Shenzhen all year round and have stayed in more than ten hotels around the exhibition area. My requirements for hygiene are almost "picky". It wasn't until this time when I stayed at DeRucci Hotel (Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center Subway Station) that I met a hotel that engraved "cleanliness" into every detail. Even someone like me who is accustomed to bringing disposable bedding has completely let go of my concerns.
When checking in, I paid special attention to the corners of the lobby. The marble floor was shining brightly, and I couldn't find any debris in the gaps between the sofas in the lounge area. The front desk countertop was wiped clean, and even the signature pen was sealed separately with a disinfectant bag. The staff noticed my subconscious glance at the hygiene details and said with a smile that all public areas of the hotel would be disinfection and sterilization every two hours. The elevator keys and door handles, which are frequently touched, would be wiped with alcohol every half an hour, instantly dispelling my concern about entering the door.
The first feeling when I pushed open the door was that it was transparent, without any strange smell, and the ventilation opening by the window was filled with a faint fresh air. I habitually squatted down to touch the bottom of the bed, there was no dust at all, the floor was shiny, and I even took off my shoes and stepped on it barefoot. After walking around, my feet were still clean. The bed sheets and covers have no wrinkles or stains, and there is not a single broken hair on the pillow. I deliberately lifted the edges of the bedding to check. There is also a clean protective pad on the mattress, which has no yellow stains from use. As a hotel that focuses on healthy sleep, even the bedding has been treated with special anti mite measures. As someone with mild dust mite allergies like me, I stayed for three days without any itching in my nose.
The details of the bathroom area surprised me even more. There were no water stains on the dry and wet separated glass, the countertop of the sink was shiny, and the faucet was completely free of scale when touched. The anti slip pads in the shower room are clean and free of any mold. Disposable toiletries are sealed in sealed bags, and even mouthwash cups are placed in dust-proof bags that have been sterilized at high temperatures. I stayed for three days, and every day when I came back, I could see the waiter neatly arranging my skincare products. Any water stains on the countertop had already been wiped clean.
Even the blind spots that many hotels easily overlook are handled very well here: there is no dust on the desktop charging port, the TV screen is wiped clean without fingerprints, the clothes hangers in the wardrobe are spotless, and even the gaps in the curtains cannot find any dust accumulation. After the cleaning of the guest rooms every day, the staff will put a "Sterilized Confirmation Card" at the door to clearly mark the time and items of disinfection and sterilization that day, so that people can live in peace of mind.
I used to be cautious when staying in hotels around exhibitions, but this time at DeRucci Hotel (Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center Subway Station), I didn't have to bring my own disposable bed sheets and covers, and even dared to use the cup for drinking water directly. The sense of security that a hotel should provide to its guests is the sense of security that places hygiene details in every corner. I will definitely choose this place again when I come to Shenzhen for exhibitions in the future.Show more
